A macerator or waste-water pump can serve fittings where gravity drainage is difficult, but the correct product depends on the fixtures, discharge route and operating conditions. Not every Saniflo product handles toilet waste, hot water or the same pumping distance.
Before a new installation
Give the installer the intended fixtures, available space, discharge height and route, electrical supply and access for maintenance. Ask which model suits the application and how the installation will meet manufacturer instructions and applicable building requirements. A pump is not permission to place any fixture anywhere.
Common symptoms and what to report
- Continuous or repeated running when fixtures are not being used.
- Unusual noise, slow discharge or an overflowing fitting.
- Visible leaks or an electrical fault indication.
- The full model and which fixtures feed the unit.
These symptoms can have different causes. If discharge is backing up or leaking, stop using the connected fittings and seek advice. Do not open the unit, reach into it or repeatedly operate it to clear an unknown blockage.
Looking after the unit
Follow the specific product's user instructions, including what may enter it and which cleaning products are suitable. Do not flush wipes or sanitary products into a toilet macerator. Maintenance and descaling depend on the model, usage and water conditions; there is no single service routine for every installation.
Repair or replace?
Ask for a diagnosis and a quotation that addresses the unit, discharge pipework and installation condition. Parts availability and repair access may affect the choice. A replacement should be checked for compatibility rather than selected only by external dimensions.
Union can discuss Saniflo and macerator services. Confirm appointment availability and the work required; the older promise of same-day attendance across every listed town has been removed.
Contact Union Plumbing & Heating with your postcode and appliance or project details to confirm the right service, availability and a written quotation.
