There is no single winner between Ideal and Baxi for every home. Compare the exact models, heating and hot-water performance, installation requirements, controls, warranty conditions and total fitted price. A brand-only comparison can hide important differences between product ranges.
Why the original comparison needed updating
Our earlier review compared the Baxi Duo-tec 24 and Ideal Logic+ 24 available at that time. It included personal installation experiences, old repair prices and assumptions about reliability. Those observations do not describe every current model or provide statistical evidence that one brand lasts longer.
We have replaced the old price examples and blanket recommendation with a comparison checklist that can be used with today's written quotations. Similar product names do not guarantee the same specification across generations.
Ideal vs Baxi: what to compare

Do both brands offer the same warranty?
No single warranty length applies across either brand. Offers depend on the model and conditions. Baxi's current Duo-tec Compact product page, for example, lists seven years subject to terms; that should not be assumed for every Baxi boiler or every historic installation. Ideal also has several distinct ranges, so check the exact offer in your quotation and manufacturer documentation.
Confirm when the warranty must be registered, what commissioning records are needed, how often the appliance must be serviced and whether a specified filter is required. Keep proof that these conditions have been met.
Which is more reliable?
This article does not have comparable, independent failure-rate data for the current ranges, so it cannot fairly declare either brand more reliable. Appliance weight, brass versus plastic components and warranty length alone do not settle that question.
Correct sizing, installation, commissioning, water quality and maintenance matter to the performance of either appliance. If an installer recommends one option, ask which features and site requirements support that recommendation.
Which costs less to install?
Compare written quotations for the same job. A cheaper boiler can produce a more expensive installation if the chosen location requires substantial flue, gas supply or drainage alterations. Conversely, an existing position may suit one model without extensive changes.
Check that each price includes the same controls, cleaning, filtration where required, disposal, making good and applicable certification. An old online price is not a reliable budget for your property today.
