Mobile Catering LPG Maintenance Between Events

Mobile Catering LPG Maintenance Between Events

Updated 20 October 2026.

A mobile catering trailer's LPG care continues between inspection dates. Travel, appliance changes and faults need attention as they occur. Keep the gas inspection record alongside maintenance and repair information rather than treating a certificate as a guarantee until the next event.

Build an equipment record

  • Appliance makes, models, instructions and installation details.
  • Previous inspection findings and evidence of remedial work.
  • Service dates, component changes and reported faults.
  • Requirements supplied by insurers, event organisers or local authorities.

Agree the inspection and service frequency with a competent LPG catering engineer using manufacturer recommendations, use and condition. One fixed interval does not suit every mobile kitchen.

Before trading and after changes

Use the operator checks and training appropriate to your equipment. Report visible damage, unusual operation, ventilation problems or a gas smell promptly. Do not keep operating suspect equipment because a report is still in date.

Adding a fryer, changing cylinder arrangements or modifying extraction may affect the installation's suitability. Arrange assessment before altered equipment is put into service; do not assume an old certificate covers the new arrangement.

Inspection is different from servicing

An inspection records the condition of the items within scope. Servicing maintains equipment in accordance with its instructions. Ask what is included, how defects will be handled and which record is required for your intended venue. Certification does not replace food hygiene, fire or other business requirements.

Plan repairs and downtime

Provide the engineer with models, symptoms and previous findings. Agree parts, labour, travel, VAT and any return-visit costs. Replacement components need to suit the actual installation; this is not work to improvise between events.

Preparing for an appointment

Coordinate parking, access, a safe testing environment and any gas supply required with the engineer before the visit. Our CP44 inspection preparation guide covers that booking in more detail.
